Thirty Days Of Gaming: Day Sixteen – A Game With The Best Cut-Scenes

Day sixteen in the Thirty Days of Gaming challenge and the challenge for today has to do with Cut-scenes. I’m going to talk about a couple of games that I feel have great immersive and cinematic cut-scenes. The games I’m going to feature are Uncharted 2 and Crysis 2.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves has already been talked about in my previous blogs. It really is that good that it gets another feature. Uncharted 2 showed the world that it is possible to have an interactive experience that feels like you’re watching a movie. Much more so than a game like Heavy Rain, which arguably is one long movie. Heavy Rain doesn’t manage to blast off of the screen anything like Uncharted 2.

I believe the one thing that gives Uncharted such a great cinematic feel is that you’re put right in the action when it’s happening. More often than not I would be waiting around, thinking there was a preset cut-scene about to happen only to find out I was supposed to do something to further the action. It is not without reason that Uncharted 2 has garnered much critical acclaim and many “Game of the Year” nominations and wins.

The second title I’m going to talk about in this blog, is one that I myself played recently when I received a review copy of it in the mail. It is Crysis 2. What this game manages to do to great extent is keep the player involved when there are cutscenes to advance the story. The entire game is played in first person, even when you encounter a scripted event or story point. Some parts of the HUD might be taken down, like your weapon. But pretty much every time you’ll be able to move around and look around freely. Of course it’s recommended you keep your eyes on the action, as you never know when the action will continue. Or when you’re interrupted by a bunch of enemies crashing through the windows and interrupting the dialog you were listening to.

Those are my two games for this blog. Evidently there are many more that can be considered for this blog. But I chose to only talk about games that I’ve played myself And for all the things I díd play, I’ve not played Modern Warfare 1 nor Modern Warfare 2. A fact that will need rectification sometime soon.

Assassin’s Creed! Any time you get to see a sexy time scene with Ezio is always good by me 😉
